WESTFIELD – Nineteen-year-old Kyle Bean, of Southampton beat out a strong field of runners to win Run Westfield’s Flat Fast 5K road race in the Whip City Saturday.
Bean finished first with a winning time of 16 minutes, 19 seconds.
Sarah Crouch, 25, of Chicopee – the first female to cross the finish line – was second overall in 16:31. Titus Mutinda, 50, of Dorchester placed third (16:40).
Thirty-one-year-old Apryl Sabadosa was the first Westfield resident to finish. Sabadosa enjoyed an eighth-place finish with her time of 17:16.
Another local runner, Westfield’s Gabriel Piepergerdes, 16, placed 12th (17:47). Matt Pomeroy, 33, of Southwick was 13th (17:51).
Suzanne Disessa, 58, of Westfield won the female 50-59 category with a 25th overall standing. Disessa completed the race in 18:53.
Norah Lusignan, 71, of Westfield and Louis Disessa, 71, were also tops in the female and male 70-and-Over categories, respectively.
The course records remained intact as no new marks were set Saturday in the downtown area.
Simon Ndirangu holds the men’s course record (13:16) set in 2013. Kim Smith retained the record (14:48) she also set that year for the women.
