SPRINGFIELD—Behavioral Health Network (BHN) was chosen by the Massachusetts Association of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Counselors (MAADAC) to receive its Outstanding Service Award at MAADAC’s Annual Meeting on January 12.
The Outstanding Service Award is presented to an individual or organization that has supported and advanced the professionalism of addiction treatment in the community and in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. According to a representative from MAADAC, BHN was selected based on its “outstanding outreach and development of continued and new programming in Substance Use Treatment in Western Massachusetts, including the new programs in Greenfield.”
MAADAC continues, “When addiction treatment in Western Massachusetts was at a low point from budget cuts and program closures, Behavioral Health Network stepped up and into the breach. In the past, this corporation assumed ownership of several existing programs such as the local recovery homes, My Sister’s House and Opportunity House and opened Cole’s Place in Springfield. BHN has also stepped up more recently to administer the acute treatment programs in Greenfield and Springfield as well as the Clinical Stabilization Services of Northern Hope and The Hope Center in both those cities. BHN has also opened The Living Room, a 24/7 respite program in Springfield which is also the base for BHN’s Recovery Coaching program.”
According to Katherine Wilson, BHN President and CEO, “We at BHN are absolutely thrilled to be the recipient of this award. It is really a testament to the leadership of our programs and their participation in advocacy locally and statewide.” To accept the award on BHN’s behalf were Tracy Mineo, Senior Program Manager, and Rose Evans, Vice President of Operations.
BHN has been providing behavioral health services to children and families in Western Mass since 1938. The agency provides community-based services that include innovative, integrated whole-health models as well as traditional clinical and outpatient and therapeutic services, day treatment, addiction services, crisis intervention and residential supports.
