WESTFIELD – Bernice E. (Perzanowski) Sondej , 97, of Westfield died Monday April 8, 2013 in Noble Hospital. She was born in Broadbrook, CT on March 17, 1916 daughter of the late Joseph and Leonora (Gadomski) Perzanowski.
Bernice was a graduate of Westfield High School, Class of 1933. She was employed in the Assisted Living Office in Westfield after graduation. In 1940 Bernice joined Stanley Home Products in the law office as a legal secretary for forty years until her retirement in 1980. In 1956 she became one of the incorporators of “The Frank Stanley Beveridge Foundation , Inc.” The foundation is the benefactor of Stanley Park in Westfield. Bernice was a member of St. Joseph National Catholic Church.
She leaves her husband of 66 years Stanley J. Sondej; a sister, Anne Rzeszutek of Easthampton. She is survived by nieces, Carolyn Suchecki and Linda Klimek; nephews, Joseph Suchecki and his wife Daphne, Robert Klimek and many great nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew and one great-great niece.
The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by services in St. Joseph’s National Catholic Church at 3:00 p.m. with burial to follow St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s memory to St. Joseph’s Church, 73 Main Street, Westfield, MA 01085. A Calling hour will precede the service from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
