WESTFIELD – Beverly A Bishop, 78 of Westfield passed away March 30th after a recent diagnosis of cancer. Beverly was born August 19, 1941 to the late Alma I. Rockwal and Dewy D. Besaw . She was a graduate of Westfield High School and attended Baypath College. Beverly’s favorite occupation was being a mother, something she excelled at. She also worked in the elementary school part time and later worked as an activities director and secretary at Barnard Rest home. Throughout her life time she also worked at dance studios. First she was the secretary where her four daughters danced, and later she worked as costume designer and seamstress at Dance Works. Anyone who was lucky enough to have worn one of her costumes can appreciate her talent.
Beverly was known to so many for her kindness and her “sparkle”. The “Stone House” was a place where children always felt welcomed. She was “Ma Stone” to many of the neighborhood children and a “dance mom” at the studio. She loved everything about dance: the costumes, the music and the choreography. She even danced herself as a child. She enjoyed watching figure skating and musicals. Beverly enjoyed going on vacation, watching Lifetime and home renovation shows on TV. One of her favorite places to be was sitting in the audience watching dance recitals or competitions and cheering on every student. In her personal life she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, Gigi, sister, aunt and friend. Family meant everything to Beverly. She was always giving of herself and helping others. She knew how to make people feel special and touched so many lives. The holidays were her favorite times of year. Beverly was a proud and charitable member of St John’s Lutheran Church.
Beverly leaves behind her husband of 27 years G. David Bishop, her son Bruce Stone of Westfield, her daughter Pam Herrlein and husband Raphael of Westfield, daughter Bridgette Bell and husband Rick of Westfield, her daughter Michelle (Shellie) Stone of Granby CT, her daughter Cheryl Stone-Phillips and husband Brett of Feeding Hills and her loving brother Dave Rockwal of Westfield. She joins grandson Shayne Herrlein in heaven.
