WESTFIELD – Blanche M. (Brueno) Willey, 89, and soon to have turned 90 of Westfield died at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 surrounded by her extended family at Governor’s Center. She was born in Russell to the late John Brueno and Rosana Desabrais.
She graduated from Westfield High School and moved to Westfield where she lived the rest of her life. She worked for the Springfield Armory, retired from Digital Equipment Corporation, was a communicant at St. Mary’s and Holy Trinity Churches, and member and past president of the VFW-Post 6645 Ladies Auxiliary. She was creative and skilled in many artistic mediums, loved to sew, knit, crochet and participated in local craft fairs for many years.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Clifford A. Willey in 1992 and grandson, Jeremiah Lafreniere in 1976. She leaves three children; a daughter, Karen A. Raymond and her husband Mark J. of Holland, MA; and sons, Larry Black Wolf and Daniel E. Lafreniere of Westfield. She is survived by her beloved sister, Gertrude M. Tenerowicz of Bradenton, FL; cherished niece, Melanie Cannata of Westfield and was loving Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was very fond of Cliff’s daughter, Sharon Florek Kiendzior and her sons Aaron, Nathan and Seth Florek of Westfield. She also leaves grandsons, Denis St. Jean, Jeffrey St. Jean, Brian Scanlon, Dan Lafreniere, Matthew Raymond and their spouses; granddaughters, Deanne Scanlon, Laurie Bucko, Ashley Slattery, Michelle Truax and their spouses and 20 great-grandchildren.
The following will be held for Blanche in Westfield on Saturday, June 29, calling hours from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, followed by a Literary of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm Street. A reception will immediately follow, invitation and location will be announced. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Denis, Jeff, Brian, Dan, Matthew and great-grandson, Joey Bucko. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Chester Pine Hill Cemetery.
