WESTFIELD – Amelia Park Ice Arena in Westfield, MA will be hosting the Westfield High School Bombers Division III State Championship Celebration on Wednesday, March 20, 2012 @ 8 p.m. The event will include introduction of the Champions, a meet & greet, raffles, and a FREE skate (rentals $3/each) for fans from 8-8:50pm.
“We encourage our Westfield Community to come out and congratulate YOUR State Champs,” said Karen Gomez, WHS Director of Athletics & PE Supervisor 9-12. “Since the building of Amelia Park Ice Arena, our hockey program has been flourishing with Coach Matthews and 3 State Titles, so it just made sense to host a party there.”
The Bombers claimed their 2013 Division 3 State Title with a win over Swampscott, 4-1, at the TD Garden in Boston on St. Patrick’s Day.
“We are so proud to be the Bombers Home Ice,” said Carole Appleton, Executive Director of Amelia Park Ice Arena. “They have been such a great example of work ethic and community spirit – Way to Go, Bombers!”
Amelia Park Ice Arena is a sports complex and memorial garden, financed by the late Westfield philanthropist Albert F. Ferst (1919-2011), in memory of his wife Amelia. The Albert & Amelia Ferst Operating Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity, was formed in 1998, with the expressed purpose of building this recreational facility and garden in her memory.
