AGAWAM – The Westfield High School boys’ basketball team is off and running.
Westfield raced past Agawam in its season opener 62-49 Monday night.
Richard Barnett, who delivered a solid effort for 32 minutes, and two other Westfield players reached double-digits scoring.
Isaiah Headley led the Bombers with 17 points. Colin Dunn finished with 13, and Barnett had 10.
“I’m happy with the way we shared the ball,” Westfield coach Bill Daley said. “We got out and ran.”
Westfield controlled the tempo from the opening tip, and led by as many as 23 points in the third quarter.
“There were a lot of good signs,” coach Daley said. “At times we looked really good, but we’ve got a long ways to go to get where we want to be.”
“It’s a good way to start,” he added. “That’s for sure.”
