SOUTHWICK – Bruce D. Kenyon, Sr., 88, passed away unexpectedly on July 2nd, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born to the late P. Benjamin Kenyon and Anna L. Wemett on September 22nd, 1935.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 62 years Carolyn T. Souza, his brother R. “Leroy” Kenyon, his son-in-law Pete St. Amand and great-grandson Luke.
He leaves behind his loving wife Marion A. Kenyon, daughter Sheree Bouchard (Jim), Kimberly Hess (Daniel), B. Donald Kenyon, Jr., eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, extended loving stepfamily and step-grandchildren, as well as many wonderful friends, including his lifelong friend Bob Jensen.
Bruce was employed as a Wire Weaver at Cheney Biglow for many years until its closure. Then in the early 70’s he went on to work for Digital in Westfield until they closed. Always wanting to keep busy, he then became self-employed until he decided to retire at 82 years old.
He lived a wonderful life and was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He attended many of his grandchildren’s sporting events and then his great-grandchildren’s events. He loved music and the stories that music told. Always a loving heart and a story or joke to tell.
Bruce was a member of the Wyben Union Chapel and volunteered throughout his entire life for many organizations and committees. Public service was a large part of his life.
One special gift that Bruce shared with his family and close friends was his love of fishing, especially in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. This was a yearly event that spanned over 60 years and continued until his last time in May of this year. This tradition will continue to live on in his memory.
Services will be held on Friday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Wyben Union Capel, Wyben, MA. All are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Bruce’s Life in the Fellowship Hall afterwards.
