SPRING HILL FL: Carol Ann Armitage, 78, of Spring Hill, FL, died peacefully on August 21, 2014. Carol was born on July 10, 1936 in Westfield, MA, to Sidney and Evelyn Dorrington.
Carol was a graduate of Westfield High School and Becker College. She had a successful career as an administrative assistant before retiring from her position as Customer Service Manager for Merriam-Webster, Inc. in Springfield, MA. Her proudest achievements were being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
While in Massachusetts, she was a member of the Blandford Club, serving on the Board of Directors. She was also a Huntington representative to the Noble Hospital Auxiliary, taught women’s fitness classes for Gateway Adult Education, and was a member of the Church of the Atonement in Westfield. Carol was an avid golfer and was more recently a member of the Snowbird Club, Global Travel Club, Tennis Club, and a very active member of the Timber Pines community in Spring Hill. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, loved to read, and was a lifelong advocate of a healthy lifestyle.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; children, Stephen and Andrew Delnickas and Mary Sterling; step-children, David, Mark, Glenn, and Paul Armitage; sister, Jean Teodore; brother, Donald Dorrington; 9 granddaughters, 1 grandson, and 1 great-grandson. Her funeral will be Saturday September 20, 2014 at 10am in the Church of the Atonement, Court St, with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, both in Westfield. A Celebration of her Life gathering will be held after the burial at the Blandford Club from 1-4pm.
