WESTFIELD – Catherine Elizabeth “Kay “( Yannaco) Dirico , 94, of Westfield died Friday, March 28, 2014 in a local nursing home. She was born in New York City on October 14, 1919 the daughter of the late Pasquale and Jane ( Bajart) Yannaco, lived in Englewood, NJ for several years, and moved to Westfield in 1973.She loved tending to her garden and was a lifelong gardener. Kay was employed at the former Steiger’s Department Store of Westfield, where she was the manager of the Men’s Department for seventeen years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Westfield Woman’s Club and the Garden Club.
She was the widow of Joseph Dirico who died in 1986. She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Gowdy and her husband Donald of Westfield; two grandchildren, Kathleen Gowdy, and Kristine Gowdy, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church,1552 Westfield Street, West Springfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield is in charge of arrangements.
