WESTFIELD—The State Fire Marshal has provided additional information on what caused the Kellogg Street fire last Friday.
According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze at the three-family home at 34 Kellogg St. was an electrical fire that involved a baseboard heater. Previously, it was reported that the fire began on the third floor of the residence.
The fire occurred Friday, Feb. 2, shortly after 3 a.m. Following the fire, a total of 12 people were displaced but no one was reported injured and the occupants were able to get themselves out of the structure, according to the Westfield Fire Department.
That included six occupants that were on the third floor.
The damage reported by the Westfield Fire Department was estimated at $30,000 to $40,000.
The American Red Cross was helping those displaced following the fire.
