WESTFIELD – Charles L. Kondrat, Sr., 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at the Holyoke Veterans Home. He was born in Westfield, MA on March 5th, 1929, to the late Frank and Margaret (Margelony) Kondrat. He attended local schools and graduated from Westfield Vocational High School in 1947.
After graduation Charlie enlisted in the United States Air Force serving for 20 years before retiring in 1968. Some of Charlie’s overseas tours were Thule, Greenland, Trinidad, and Japan. Charlie also saw action in the Republic of Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he went on to work at Hamilton Standard and Forish construction. Those who knew Charlie, knew he had hobbies for gardening, coin collecting, photography, and had a fascination for aircraft. He was an active member in the VFW for many years.
Charlie leaves his children Charles Jr., Pamela Kondrat, Robin Flynn and her husband Patrick. His grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy, his wife KerriAnn, Daniel, Anthony and Alyssa. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, A.J. and Ellowyn.
Charlie is predeceased by his siblings, John, Peter, Frank Kondrat, Jr., Catherine Nazario, and Mary Cooper, Helen Petros and Anna Kondrat.
Calling hours for Charlie will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 10-11 a.m. in Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. www.firtionadams.com
