HOLYOKE: Chester “Chet” Janis, age 91, (1925 – 2016) of Holyoke, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Westfield, son of the late Marcel and Bronislawa (Szczesny) Janiszewski. Chet grew up in Southwick and attended the Southwick Consolidated School and Westfield High School. Chet is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lorraine Frances (Linko) Janis of Holyoke, his cherished daughter, Deborah Janis of Holyoke and a sister, Patricia VanOlinda of NC. He also leaves several nieces and nephews including Joseph Janis and wife Lynn of West Springfield, David VanOlinda and wife Jennifer of NC and Peter VanOlinda and wife Sara of NC, Alexis Toy of Deerfield, Susan Jarvis and husband Brian of Ludlow, Carolyn Drumm and husband Douglas of Westfield, Kristin Kramer and husband Richard of Marlborough and Sally Janis of Northampton. The Funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of The Cross Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm.
