FLORENCE – Christine J. Clayton, 85, of Florence passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at Day Brook Village in Holyoke with her family by her side. Christine was born in Williamsburg on October 5th, 1938, the daughter of Ferdinand and Helen (Galpin) Ice. She was raised in Williamsburg and attended local schools.
Christine was employed at ProBrush in Florence for several years. Later, she worked at The National Felt Company, first in Northampton and then in Easthampton. She retired in 2003. She loved to spend time crocheting and doing crafts. She enjoyed selling what she made at local craft shows. Christine made many cherished keepsakes for her family that will be a lasting memory of her. She also had a great love for dogs.
Besides her parents, Christine was sadly predeceased by her loving husband William in 2005.
She is survived by her children William E. Clayton and his wife Cheryl of Westfield, Helen Langlais and her husband Jerry of Edgewood, NM and Dorothy Clayton and her husband Donald Nichols of Haydenville; her grandchildren Nicole Mascarenas and her husband Joshua of Los Ranchos, NM, Ethan Clayton and his girlfriend Laura Gruszka of Florence, and Aaron Clayton and his wife Carly of Enosburg Falls, VT; and her great-granddaughter Ava Clayton.
Christine’s burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in Christine’s memory may be made to the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
