WESTFIELD – The guests this coming Thursday, Sept. 22, on The Westfield News Radio Show from 6 a.m. to 8.m. are two Southwick residents who have been advocating for a strong cause. John Whalley and Dennis Clark will be on the WSKB 89.5fm show to discuss the Conserve North Pond project.
Whalley has spent the last several months completing a way to fundraise efforts in order to preserve the land on Congamond Lake within the next year.
The goal is to find 20 matching sponsors to donate $5,000 each. Whether it is an individual who is a private donor or a local business, Whalley and the rest of the North Pond supporters want the community’s help.
“It’s a recreation, farming community, we want to see it that way,” said Whalley in an interview with the Westfield News back on June 25. “We’re dying to find businesses that are willing to help in any way.”
Currently, the Southwick Inn, Gristville Motors, Whalley Computer, and Ralph Depalma are all matching sponsors.
During the show Thursday, both Whalley and Clark will discuss their thoughts on the project, their efforts, and what will be done moving forward with the project.
Franklin Land Trust, is the non-profit organization who is assisting the North Pond campaign during this process. Franklin Land Trust has a page on their website dedicated towards the North Pond project, called Save North Pond.
