SOUTHWICK – Pereira Construction of Ludlow embarked on construction of Congamond Road this past week.
According to Southwick DPW Director Randy Brown, Pereira started working on the below grade utilities, followed by installing a new drainage line and water modifications. After that, the contractor will widen the road and build the pavement base for the road. The project also includes new sidewalks and bike lanes.
On Monday, the Southwick Police Department released a statement to make the public aware of the project and the traffic delays that may occur near or on Congamond Road. Police officers will be on scene to help reduce the traffic delays.
Mass DOT has oversight of the $4.1 million project as it is being funded through them with some additional federal money included.
“It’s certainly a much-needed project,” said Brown. “The road certainly does need to be improved.”
The majority of the Congamond Road project is expected to continue through the fall and into the winter as weather permits. Pereira is scheduled to provide final paving on the road in April 2019
