Councilor Hoose: Ward 3 update

BRIAN HOOSE

BRIAN HOOSE

Voters and residents of Ward 3, I am very excited to have been elected your Ward 3 City Councilor. And to be once again enabled to be of community service. For most of my life I have been involved in some sort of community service efforts and always found it meaningful.
To the residents of Chestnut St., I have been pressing to have the city deal with the burnt home on your street, and hopefully will soon see some efforts made to have a lien put on the property so that that the mortgage holder will either tear it down or turn it over to the city.
To the homeowners on Franklin St., between Malone and Graylock, once the weather clears I want to contact you regarding the condition of your street. I walk there frequently, whether it is covered with water or ice, I imagine that you would like to have it literally straightened out. I have talked to our City Engineer regarding this, and once an appropriate time for mourning has passed, I will talk with the Mayor to make it safe. To the family on Smith Ave, across from our vocational school, I hope the loitering has been reduced since my conversations with the school’s principal.
To the folks up by WSU, I have been made a member of the Neighborhood Advisory Group (NAG); if you have issues that you want me to take up, please contact me. To the residents and businesses in the downtown NAG is going to have a coffee hour in late March, at Landsdown, to enable you to present your concerns.
I do hope that all the residents of Ward 3 watch your City Council on Community Access Channel 15.
I am in the midst of retiring from my current job, so I will be better able to meet with you and to hear your concerns. And, while the weather has been rough, once it improves, or you see me even in the snow, do feel free to stop me so we can talk, neither I nor Ollie bite.
Brian Hoose
City Councilor
