Allen Carter, 48, of 151 W. Alvord St., Springfield, pleaded guilty to a a charge of larceny of property valued less than $1,200 brought by Westfield police and was placed on probation for six months. A second charge of larceny off property valued less than $1,200 and a charge uttering a false check were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth. In a second case also bought by Westfield police, Carter was released on his personal recognizance pending a Nov. 3 hearing after he was arraigned on charges of attempting to commit a crime, larceny of property valued less than $1,200 and being a common and notorious thief.
Michael A. Burns, 31, of 138 Point Grove Road, Southwick, submitted to facts sufficient to warrant guilty findings for charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor (a second offense) and threatening to commit a crime brought by Southwick police and the charges were continued without a finding with probation for one year. He was assessed $300 and his license was suspended for 90 days. Charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of property valued less than $1,200 were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth and he was found to be not responsible for a marked lanes violation.
