Alexander Maceira, 18, of 126 UnionSt., Westfield, was released on his personal recognizance pending a July 10 hearing after he was arraigned on a charge of operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license brought by Westfield police. In a second case also brought by Westfield police, Maceira was again released on his personal recognizance pending a July 6 hearing after he was arraigned on charges of using a motor vehicle without authority and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Seth M.Benoit, 27, of 47A Taylor Ave., Westfield, pleaded guilty to a charge of violation of an abuse prevention order brought by Westfield police and was sentenced to a nine month term in the Hampden County house of correction to be served concurrently with a sentence imposed by Belchertown District Court.
William J. Lea, 32, of 15 Casimir St., Westfield, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and battery on a police officer and was sentenced to a 120 day term in the house of correction with credit for time served awaiting trial. Charges of assault and battery, assault and battery on a family or household member and intimidating a witness were dismissed when the alleged victims invoked Fifth Amendment protection and refused to testify.
Richard M. Contes, 38, of 1 Maplewood Terrace, Middletown, Conn., pleaded guilty to charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a Class A drug and reckless operation of a motor vehicle brought by Westfield police and was sentenced to time served awaiting trial. He was found to be guilty of a charge of failure to stop for police and found to be not responsible for a charge of failure to stop or yield and a motor vehicle lights violation. A charge of breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony was not prosecuted and a charge of resisting arrest was dismissed by the court.
