SOUTHWICK – The Community Preservation Committee will be holding their annual public informational session on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Southwick Town Hall.
The session allows the committee to present the current projects they’re working on along with what they’ve accomplished in the past year. Other committees and boards that may be in attendance will also have the opportunity to let the CPC know what is on their wish list for projects.
Currently, the CPC is looking to approve the Powder Mill School playscape project, which would consist of repairing and moving the playscape due to consistent flooding issues that prevents it from being used at times.
The committee is still working on Whalley Park, along with the Moorhouse Roof Reclamation. The CPC has also been supporting the North Pond project and were approached by the Franklin Land Trust this past week to see if they would donate $500,000 towards preserving the land. The discussion will continue on Thursday at the meeting.
The informational session will also allow the public to voice their thoughts, concerns, and ideas. In the past, the sessions haven’t been as well-attended as the committee would like and are hoping that changes this time around.
“We always welcome participation, that’s why I made a strong point that all the boards and committees were to be notified prior to this meeting,” said CPC Chairman Bob Horacek.
