SOUTHWICK – The Citizens Restoring Congamond (CRC) is hosting a clothing drive on April 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Babb’s Roller Rink on 403 Babb’s Road in West Suffield to pay for legal fees incurred by supporters of the save North Pond efforts.
Besides accepting clothes, the CRC is also encouraging people to drop off footwear, books, records, cd’s, dvds, toys and small furniture. According to Deb Herath, the President of CRC, they will not accept any baby car seats, CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors, or non-flat screen televisions.
With all of the proceeds going back to the CRC, they will receive 10 cents for every pound of clothes and one penny for every pound of all the other items dropped off.
Herath pointed out that the CPC has agreed to pay the legal funds for the North Pond supporters and believes the clothing drive is one way to help. She is hoping that people will attend the event on Saturday and drop off any items they may be willing to let go of.
“We’d love to see them there, it’s a great time to clean out those closets,” said Herath. “We’ll be happy to take it off your hands.”
Herath also added that if interested individuals can’t make it to the clothing drive, they can email her at [email protected] and will work with them on how to get the items picked up.
The CRC also wants to make the community aware of their annual kickoff meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at The Launch on Point Grove Road. Typically the most attended meeting of the year, Herath said the meeting will include the committee voting on the operating budget. Southwick Select Board Vice-Chairman Russ Fox and Suffield First Selectman Melissa Mack will be in attendance.
