WHITEFIELD, NH – Daphne Mary Pinkham, 83, Whitefield, died at Littleton Regional Hospital, Littleton, NH, following a period of declining health, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, on the day following her 66th wedding anniversary. Daphne was born at home in Lost Nation, NH, in 1929, the last child of Frank and Fern (Willey) Brigham.
She attended schools in Groveton, NH, and married a young World War II veteran at the age of seventeen. A kind and outgoing woman, she felt happiest with her family of whom she was exceedingly proud. One of her most nervous times was attending state championship soccer games involving teams coached by her two sons, especially when her sons’ teams faced each other. She very much enjoyed the long walks she and her husband once took daily, the rides they took on one of their bicycles-built-for-two, and her perennial flower gardens. Justly known for her peanut butter fudge, she made pan after pan of the candy at Christmas time. For years, she and her husband were members of the square dancing club in Littleton. When legs no longer supported the active dancing they enjoyed, “Dancing with the Stars” became her television favorite. The gray squirrels will truly miss the honey roasted peanuts she put out for them every day of the year.
Predeceasing her were her parents and siblings; Gordon Brigham, Marguerite Brigham Bly, Madeline Brigham Gonyer, Evelyn Brigham Robinson, Cynthia Brigham Chilafoe, and Eunice Brigham. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George R. Pinkham of Whitefield, NH, as well as her four children, Barbara Pinkham of Whitefield, NH, George R. Pinkham III and his wife Suzanne of Henniker, NH, Linda Pinkham Berry and her husband John of Russell, MA and David Pinkham and his wife Meryl of Gilford, NH. In addition are the five grandchildren she loved, Kasie Berry Sisneros and her husband Steven of Prescott Valley and Scottsdale, Arizona, Ryan Pinkham of Chicago, IL, John Berry of Chester, MA, Devann Pinkham Steele and her husband Kevin of Louisville, KY and Brittany Pinkham of Chapel Hill, NC. Two great-grandsons delighted her in recent years, Christopher Pinkham of Concord, NH, and Steven Sisneros of Arizona. Her niece, Jeanne Bilodeau, of Dalton, NH, and wonderful friend, Carol Anne Gillis, of Littleton, NH, were considered members of her family.
There are no calling hours, services will be held privately. Anyone wishing to remember her may do so with a contribution to Caleb Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, 38 King’s Square, Whitefield, NH, 03598 or The Morrison, Residents Fund, 6 Terrace Street, Whitefield, NH, 03598.
