WESTFIELD: Darlene M. Cornelius, 59, passed away peacefully at the hospital on February 21st, 2021 after a long but strong fight with cancer. She was born on September 16th, 1961, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Potter.
Darlene was a proud nursing home aide and a loving mom who enjoyed bird watching, listening to the oldies station on the radio, and making people laugh. Darlene fought a strong fight with cancer and kept a sense of humor through it all. She was known for putting family first and keeping a positive outlook. She was an animal lover who loved playing with her cat, feeding squirrels and chipmunks, and making sure the neighborhood birds never left her lawn hungry. A warm soul who loved Christmas and Elvis, Darlene always knew how to light up a room and lift a mood. Darlene was a very hard worker who was strong, independent, and inspirational.
Darlene was predeceased by her daughter Hayley, and is survived by her daughter Kayla and her partner Mark, who she made sure to care for and laugh with until the very end. She also leaves behind her sister Deb and her brother Edward. Her family will miss her every day. Darlene wished to not have any services held, so instead her family asks to put on an Elvis song in her memory and think of good times, knowing that’s what Darlene would’ve wanted. Big hugs and many thanks for both the received and incoming condolences. Darlene was a light in this world that will be tenderly missed.
