WESTFIELD – -Darrell E.“Skip” Gilmet, 74, died Monday November 18, 2019 at home. He was born in Westfield on April 25, 1945 to the late Charles and Hazel (Broughton) Gilmet. He was raised in Westfield and attended Westfield Trade School. He worked in the maintenance department at Noble Hospital for many years. He also worked at G&G Home Repair for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of American Legion Post #124 and the Moose Club. He leaves his children Darren Gilmet of Westfield, Wayne Parks of Easthampton and Gary Parks of Huntington, two grandchildren Alaina and Gary Gilmet, two sisters April Moquin of Chicopee and Dawn Keithley of Newport News, VA and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Daniel Gilmet, his brothers Charles and Robert Gilmet.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 12 noon from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home from 10am till 12 noon. Burial will follow in Granby Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Legion Post #124, 38 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085
