David J. (Jerry) Pauzé, Sr.

WESTFIELD – David J. (Jerry) Pauzé, Sr., 93, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Haven, CT, son of the late Peter and Mabel (Roullier) Pauzé, he also lived in Agawam during his youth. While working at Sears, he met and married the love of his life, Charlotte. They lived in Springfield, Ludlow, Chelmsford, Westfield, Ocala, FL, Westhampton, and Huntington before returning to Westfield. Jerry also worked at Uniroyal, American Bosch, Ayer Sales in Woburn, and retired as a general manager from United Technologies. He was an army veteran of the Korean War during which he served as a cryptographer in Germany. In 1951 he sang in a barbershop quartet in the MassMutual Anniversary Show Tour to entertain the troops in the Azores, Africa, and Bermuda. Jerry was a 32nd degree Mason at Brigham Lodge for 50 years, the Melha Shrine Oriental Band President from 1983-84, and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a reader for the Radio Reading Service and a church and choir member of the First Congregational Churches in Ludlow and Huntington. He enjoyed singing in barbershop quartets, playing the harmonica, and creating objects with wood and stained glass.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Melba Pauzé, Mona Ellis, and Shirley Pauzé, and a grandson, Kevin Costa.

He leaves his wife of 72 years, Charlotte (Sweet) Pauzé; two sons: David J. Pauzé, Jr. (Linda) of Dallas, TX, Kenneth P. Pauzé (Donna) of Ellington, CT; a daughter Michelle R. Costa (Jay) of Ludlow; two brothers: Philip Pauzé (Linda) and Peter Pauzé (Carol); six grandchildren: Michael Pauzé, Jeremy Costa (Diana), Brian Pauzé, Amy Scales (Jeff), Caitlin Bertsch (Chris), Shawn Costa (Rebecca); nine great-grandchildren: Izabella, Maya, and Elena Costa, Madeline and Maddox Scales, Carson Bertsch, Nolan Costa, Chase and Liam Ashton, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jerry to Shriners Children’s Hospital or to First Congregational Church, 6 Searle Rd., Huntington, MA 01050.
