David Martin Tobias, Jr.

WESTFIELD – David (Butch) Martin Tobias, Jr. passed away on June 24, 2025, quietly after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late David M. Tobias, Sr. and Josephine Lisowski on July 22, 1935, in Westfield. He attended Holy Trinity Parish School and Westfield Trade School. He traveled the world with the Navy for 10 years.

After his years of service to our country he worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, M&P Aluminum Siding Co., and Westfield Public Schools, as maintenance and a courier. He enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cribbage and poker, and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild, who he thought were amazing and extra special. He was always willing to help anyone if they needed it and would be the first to offer help to anyone in the family. Family was his dearest and greatest achievement.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Marjorie and Patricia, and leaves behind two brothers, Paul and Joseph both of Westfield.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife Loretta Dorothea (Kersey) Tobias of Westfield. His children Victoria and husband Peter Polak of Montgomery MA, Deborah and husband J. Erik Hansen of Pueblo CO, Michael and wife Nancy Tobias of Deland FL and Robert Tobias of Pittsfield MA. He also has six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The visitation for David will be Tuesday, July 1st from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A Funeral Home Service will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at a later date. www.firtionadams.com
