LAS VEGAS, NV – George R. Delisle of Westfield was elected to the Board of Trustees of Kiwanis International July 29 at the group’s annual international convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Delisle was one of five candidates contesting three open seats on the Kiwanis International board. The 15-member board includes nine members representing the United States and western Canada. Other separately-elected members represent Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and eastern Canada and the Caribbean. He will become the first Western Massachusetts Kiwanis member ever to serve on the Kiwanis International board when he takes office Oct. 1.
Delisle recently retired after a 46-year career as a journalist and an information technology specialist with The Republican. He has been a member of Kiwanis since 1979, when he joined the Springfield Kiwanis Club. He served that club as president in 1989-90. He is currently a member of the Westfield Kiwanis Club, the Northampton Kiwanis Club, where he serves as club secretary, and the Centennial e-Kiwanis Club of Pennsylvania. He has previously served the New England and Bermuda District of Kiwanis as a lieutenant governor, committee chair, treasurer, secretary, and district governor.
