WESTFIELD – Into the Arts will be held next Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1 in Westfield High School. Featured will be artwork, music and song from Westfield Public School students from pre-kindergarten through high school.
“This is the district’s opportunity to showcase all of its students’ music and art,” said Tina Macy, Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) coordinator.
The schedule on Friday in the auditorium begins with EMR Guitar Duets at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Southampton Road Chorus at 6 p.m., Paper Mill Chorus at 6:30 pm, South Middle Jazz Band at 7 p.m.,Westfield High Jazz Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. and the Westfield High Jazz Combo at 8 p.m. A simultaneous performance of the Whip City Ukesters will take place on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria.
On Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Cafeteria will be a Fort Meadow Sing-a-long .
Also on Saturday, starting at 1:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium will be the second annual “It’s Band-Tastic!,” an all-Westfield School Band performance. Macy said that last year’s performance was unbelievable. “It’s such a cool thing!” she said, about all the musicians of all ages coming together.
Throughout the event on Friday and Saturday there will be a food and bake sale by the WHS Band Parents, and a beverage sale and 50/50 raffle by VIPS.
There will also be a piece of art work from every pre-schooler through 5th grader hung on the walls, side-by-side with submissions from the middle schools and high school art programs.
“It’s beautiful to see the thousands of pieces of art,” Macy said. She also said anyone that would like to help her hang the art on Wednesday or Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 pm should email her at [email protected]. Volunteers are also needed to serve as patrons and greeters.
Come out and support the art and music programs of the Westfield Public Schools. There is no admission fee for the event.
