WESTFIELD: It is with great sadness to announce that Dolores Lucy MacFarlane, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on March 4, 2022. Dolores is the daughter of the late Peter and Philomena Carnute and lived and attended schools in Pittsfield, MA before moving to Westfield. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and earned her RN degree. She then started her career in Miami Beach and later retired after several years at Noble Hospital as the Unit Manager of 3rd North. Dolores loved the sun and beach, enjoyed reading and traveling, but mostly spending time with family and her grandchildren.
Dolores’ husband Hugh predeceased her on March 31, 2021 and they were married for 64 years. She leaves her daughters, Lisa MacFarlane, Sandra Canterbury and husband Ralph, and her son John MacFarlane and wife Cindy. She also leaves her granddaughter, Crystal Kennison and grandsons, Colin and Kyle MacFarlane. Dolores also leaves her sister, Marie Carnute Lambert. Her brother Peter Carnute, Jr., predeceased her earlier this year. She leaves her nieces, Barbara Stuber, Denise Burns and Kim Civello, and her nephews, James Bastien, Jr., and Mark and Glenn Civello.
Services will be private and be held for both Dolores and Hugh MacFarlane at the Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores’ name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of their choice. Firtionadams.com
