SOUTHWICK – Dominic Batistta Vercellone, 22, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 10th, 2024.
Dom was a sweet and gentle, thoughtful, old soul who grew up in Southwick and graduated from Southwick High School in 2020. He started T-ball at the Rec Center and continued to play baseball through high school until covid his Senior year. His favorite team was the NY Yankees. He was always available to help anyone, especially his parents. He would tutor neighborhood kids in math and give them advice about school. He was also smart. He could look at something and figure out how it worked. He loved building computers and gaming with his friends. He had an inquisitive mind and would spend hours reading and learning about topics such as the world’s oldest tortoise, the man who built the Ferrari, chemistry and computers. He became fascinated with WWII history after writing a report in high school and was building his own model of a battleship at home. He loved his time as a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He worked in the community at Big Y in Southwick as a head cashier and traveled often with his family on vacations to his grandparent’s cabin in the Adirondacks and cruises with his extended family in the Caribbean. He adored his two cats, Olive and Frankie, who often slept with him and would watch him game. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the community of Southwick.
He is survived by his parents David and Lisa (Fiaccone) Vercellone, his sister Olivia and his cats Olive and Frankie. He had a large extended family that loved him as well. His paternal Grandparents James and Carole Vercellone, his maternal Grandparents Henry and Pamela Fiaccone. His aunts and uncles – Godfather Jon Vercellone, Debbie (Vercellone) and Jack Prendergast, Alicia and Chris Fiaccone, Godmother Sarah (Fiaccone) and Joe Carroll, and Paul and Melissa Fiaccone, and all of his first cousins Alexa and Leah Prendergast, Ryan and Katherine Fiaccone, Teagan and Abigail Carroll and Novellino and Rosalie Fiaccone. He was also looked up to by numerous second and third cousins who loved and adored him.
Dominic was predeceased by his Uncle Chris Fiaccone, his paternal Great-Grandparents John and Margaret Norko, maternal Great-Grandfather Henry Fiaccone, Sr. and his maternal Great-Grandmother Rose Opiola.
His visitation will be on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 from 1 p.m.–5 p.m. in Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA. His funeral will begin on Monday, May 20th, 2024 with a calling hour from 12 p.m.–1 p.m., followed by a procession to Our Lady of the Lake Church, 224 Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick, MA for his Funeral Mass at 2 p.m.
