WEST SUFFIELD, CT: Donald Bartnicki, 82 of West Suffield, CT passed away on January 21, 2015 at home. Donald was born in Woronoco, MA on May 27, 1932, the son of the late Benjamin Bartnicki and Mary (Szczesna)Bartnicki. He was the youngest of seven children and was predeceased by William, Stephanie,Barbara and Gertrude.He graduated from Westfield High School. He was the recipient of theBronze Tablet, which was the highest award attainable by a student. He was also an outstandingmember of the all-Western Mass. football team and a varsity basketball player. He was a member ofthe Westfield football team that won the Peanut Bowl championship in Georgia in 1949. He graduatedfrom Dartmouth College with a degree in Geology. He was a pilot and lieutenant in the US Air Force. Heworked at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT for many years. He married the love of his life,Carole (Matchett) Bartnicki. They recently celebrated 46 years of marriage. He is also survived by hisbrother, Henry Bartnicki of Granville, his sister, Genevieve B. Miller of Longmeadow, his brother-in-lawJohn Matchett of West Suffield, and many nieces and nephews. Don was a kind, generous and lovingperson who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His family will receive friends Sunday,January 25, 2015 from 2-3 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield followed by funeral services at 3 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
