Donald David Duga

WESTFIELD – Donald David Duga, 85, (1940-2025) of Westfield Massachusetts, entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2025.  A native of Woronoco, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Genevieve (Larrabee) Christiansen and Raymond Duga. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, JoAnne (Quesnel) Duga, his brother Robert Duga, and sister-in-law Darlene Duga.

Donald believed that family was everything and took every opportunity to bring his children and grandchildren together for family vacations and his infamous road trips. His granddaughter lovingly called him the “backbone of our family,” which he truly was. He never missed a birthday, graduation, or any other milestone for his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.

He leaves behind a loving family: Daughter Diane Humphrey of Westfield MA, son Steven Duga and daughter-in-law Michelle of West Springfield MA. His pride and joy in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Tyler (Emily) Humphrey, Benjamin (Kayla) Duga, Conor Humphrey, Erin Humphrey, and Joshua Duga. His great-grandchildren, Reese Humphrey, Harper Humphrey, Grayson Humphrey, Oliver Duga, Mila Humphrey, and Kamryn Duga, lovingly referred to him as “Greepa,” “Big Grampa,” and “Great-Grampa,” titles he proudly claimed.

Donald grew up on his grandmother’s farm in Blandford MA. He attended Westfield High School and upon graduation joined the Navy. After the Navy he settled in Westfield and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Western New England College. He spent his career, of 25+ years, as a field representative for a division of General Motors. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed his retirement spending time with family, gardening, and traveling.

His family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Baystate Noble Hospital and Baystate Hospice, who ensured his final days were comfortable. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, Westfield. A graveside service with military honors will take place at the Agawam Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. where Donald and his loving wife will be laid to eternal rest.
