WESTFIELD – Donald F. Callahan, 89, (1928) passed away at the Holyoke Soldiers Home on December 24, 2017. He was born in Westfield, MA to the late John F. and Pansy C. (Fairclough) Callahan and was a graduate of Westfield High School. He was employed for 30 years for Mestek/Sterling radiator and retired in 2000 from the City of Westfield. Don served his country with the United States Army during WWII from 1946-1948, he attained the rank of PFC and received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was a proud member of the Sons of Erin in Westfield, the American Legion Post 124 and AMVETS. Don was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (LeBeau) Callahan in 2007, by his two brothers, William J. Callahan and Robert E. Callahan and his sister Dorothy Griffin. He is survived by his loving children, Sandra J. Callahan of Westfield, Robert E. Callahan and his wife Elizabeth of Westfield and Deborah A. Callahan of West Springfield, his four cherished grandchildren, Katherine Callahan, Remy Rogers, Heather Smithies and Jennifer Smithies and two great grandchildren, Cassandra Smithies and Austin Rogers. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 12:30 AM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. A Visiting hour will precede the Mass from 11-12 Noon in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield.
