AMHERST – Donald R. “Lefty” Allaire, 77, of Amherst died Saturday in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Willimantic, CT he was a graduate of the former Springfield Technical High School, and lived most of his life in Huntington. Donald was employed by Columbia Manufacturing for several years, and was a member of the Air National Guard.
He is survived by a son, Thomas; five daughters, Debbie Thomas, Terry Allaire and Patty Ziter all of Huntington, Sherri Meissner of Russell, and Becky Nugent of Worthington; a sister, Olivine Allaire of Westfield; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and his former wife, Virginia Allaire of Huntington. The family would like to thank his close friend, Don Towers of Hatfield for all he did for Don.
A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield on December 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. There are no calling hours. Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield is in charge of arrangements.
