WESTFIELD – Doris Louise (Kilb) Smith (1928 – 2022) left this lonely world on September 7, 2022, at Genesis at Westfield Center. She went with the expectation of meeting the loved ones that went before her, especially her beloved Gordie who predeceased her on December 5, 2012. Doris was born at Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA on October 13, 1928, to the former Ricard L. and Frances L. (Morin) Kilb who predeceased her in 1970 and 2003.
Doris graduated from Westfield High School in 1946 and in 1948 was married to her childhood friend since 1936. They worked and lived in Westfield and their “Honeymoon College” at Norwich Lake until 2004. At that time, they moved to Quail Run Estates in Agawam and most recently Doris resided at Armbrook Village in Westfield. They had celebrated 64 together with many HAPPY memories. On the Morin branch of her family there are several cousins, the closet of which is 4th generation, Richard Pelland and his wife Sheryl in Comano Island, WA, and his sister Judith Devine and her families in Amherst, MA. On the in-law side of the family Doris leaves three nephews and six nieces and their families from Maine to Texas to Puerto Rico. Doris has many treasured friends, including Joan Chase Fredricks (since 1936) of N.J. and her family, and Rochelle Ryan and her family of Chicopee. Doris has been helped in many ways, including the staff at Armbrook Village and at Genesis at Westfield Center.
At Doris’ request there will be no visiting hours or service. Burial will be at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam with her beloved husband Gordie. Doris has requested donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield is in charge of her arrangements.
