WESTFIELD: Dorothy I. (LaBrecque) Olszewski, 90, ( 1931-2021) passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Genesis at Westfield Center. She was born in Voluntown, CT to the late Joseph and Isabel (Devio) LaBrecque and earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education at Westfield State University. Dorothy was employed by the City of Westfield and taught civics in the middle school and then moved to the high school where she taught history. She enjoyed being the advisor with the high school yearbook and organized and attended trips with the students to Russia. She retired in 1988. Dorothy loved her poodles, enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting, sitting on her screen porch and watching the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots.
She was predeceased by a son Mark Olszewski in June 2008 and her ex-husband Frederick J. Olszewski in 2013. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Rick M. Olszewski of Westfield, and Gary S. Olszewski and his late wife Eileen, of Westfield, her beloved grandchildren, Kelly Palasciano of Greenfield, Kevin Olszewski of Wilmington, MA, David Olszewski of Windsor Locks, CT and Ben and Eric MacDonald of South Hadley, and her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Elliot and Owen and her dear longtime friend Barbara Chiampa of Westfield. She was also predeceased by her sister Louise Markham and her husband Robert, and leaves niece Marybeth Kelly and Robert Markham.
