Dorothy N. Tsatsos

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Dorothy N. Tsatsos, 85, died Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by family, after a brief illness. She was born in Providence Rhode Island on July 15th, 1938 to the Late Nicholas and Melachrini (Kandarakis) Georgeadys.

Dorothy grew up in Rhode Island and was a resident of Westfield and West Springfield for 57 years. Dorothy was a Legal Secretary and worked in Springfield for 30 years. Dorothy has been a lifelong parishioner of the Greek Orthodox Church, both in Rhode Island, and at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. Dorothy was a member of the Philoptochos (Greek Ladies Society), the church choir, Glendi Dancers and many other church activities. She enjoyed traveling and made many excursions to the Caribbean Islands. Dorothy also traveled to Greece, Egypt, and Romania. She was also talented in needlepoint, as her mother was, and crafted many beautiful pieces. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. In her younger years she enjoyed skiing, the beach, and other outdoor activities. However, her greatest joy was being a “Yiayia” to her grandsons. Going with them to Walt Disney World, Cape Cod, New Hampshire to watch them ski and many years of cheering them on as they played baseball. Dorothy was devoted to her family.

Dorothy leaves her son Anthony Tsatsos, her daughter Nikki Shepard and her husband Andrew of Byfield MA. Her grandsons Matthew A. Tsatsos and Nathaniel R. Tsatsos, daughter-in-law Maureen M. Tsatsos, her sister Katina Louth of Warwick Rhode Island, and Constance Georgeadys of Cranston Rhode Island.

She is predeceased by her husband Athanasios (Art) Tsatsos, who passed in 2008, and her sisters, Julia Papadoulias in 2020, Anastasia (Ann) Debernardi in 2014, and Mary Bablenis in 1986.

The funeral for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA. Calling hours will also be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29th at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral prior to the Funeral Services. The Funeral will be administered and overseen by Firtion-Adams Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Road, Springfield, MA 01104.
