Douglas J. Falconer, 90, (1927-2018) passed away on August 29, 2018 at Governors Center. He was born in Springfield to the late James and Jean (Robb) Falconer. Douglas served his country with the United States Marine Corps from 1950-1952. He was employed as a pattern maker for over 30 years for the former Chapman Valve Company in Indian Orchard. Douglas was very proud of his Scottish heritage and attended many of the Highland Scottish Games. He passed this love down to his grandchildren, even buying them full Scottish outfits. He was a very active member of First Congregational Church in Westfield for many years. Additionally, he was a youth sports coach for many years and continued to play hockey into his 70’s and he was a huge Patriots and Yankees fan. Most importantly, Douglas loved being a grandfather and spending time with Greg and Lauren. Sadly Douglas was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Beatrice M. (Bassette) Falconer in 2001, a loving son James W. Falconer in 1986 and his sister Nancy Brockney in 2008, he is survived by his son Douglas B. Falconer and his wife Cathleen of Westfield, his two cherished grandchildren, Gregory Falconer and Lauren Falconer, and his good friend Barbara Duperrault. Douglas’ funeral will be held on Saturday at 10AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Western Ave. Westfield.
