Letter to the Editor
City Council had an extremely acrimonious meeting on Thursday evening. We had before us several financial matters that affected next year’s finances for the residents and businesses of this City. As the Westfield Evening News indicated, the residents had a one time only chance at a tax reduction and we failed to deliver by a 7-6 vote. I am proud to stand with fellow Councilors who voted to provide tax relief to resident including Councilors Sullivan, Keefe, Flaherty, Allie and VanHeynigan. I am so sorry that Council could not deliver on this vote and provide this much requested relief – six of us tried.
