WESTFIELD – Edward S. McLemore, Jr., age 69 of Westfield, MA, passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall in Agawam with family and friends by his side on February 23rd after a short, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born at Westover Airforce Base on November 22nd, 1954, son of the late Edward S. McLemore, Sr. and Marlene (McLemore) Hills. He attended Westfield H.S. and furthered his education at Westfield State College for Computer A+ Certification. Edward’s employments included the Westfield River Paper Co., Mass Mutual, Jen-Coat, Inc. and Kleer Lumber from where he retired in 2021. His many interests included membership in the Sportsmen Club, hunting, playing his guitars, gardening, cooking, reading and raising his pet chickens – Roxanne, Chloe, Squeaky, Chicken Hawk, Liz, Bella, Rosie, Esther and Ruthie. Most important to Edward was his Christian faith. He studied Bible scripture and lived his faith daily as well as using his knowledge to encourage family and friends. He was a member of the New England Word of Faith Church in Hartford, CT. We know Edward has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Besides his beloved mother Marlene, Edward leaves behind his stepbrother Donald Hills and wife Elizabeth (Abby) of Westfield, MA and stepsister Linda Hills Messenger of New York, NY and their families. He also leaves dear friends Brian “Smitty” Smith and wife Maura and their dog Maisy of Westfield, MA, Donnie LeBlanc and wife Barbara of Westfield, MA and Ronnie Messenger and wife Shelley of Russell, MA.
In lieu of calling hours, a funeral service will be held at Firtion-Adams at 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield.
