WESTFIELD – Edwin Bryla, 89, of Westfield passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Trinity Health Nursing Home in Woonsocket, RI. Born on June 29, 1923 in Webster, he was the son of the late Peter and Bertha Bryla.In his youth, Edwin was an accomplish bodybuilder, winning many prestigious competitions including the Massachusetts State Championship. He retired from IBM after many years of service as a dedicated computer engineer and became an avid tomato gardener, coin collector and stock investor. He was a long time communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
Edwin was predeceased by his wife Rose; his daughter, Karen and his brothers, Benjamin, Daniel and Maximillian. He is survived by four grandchildren; Kurt Bruck of Cumberland, RI, Rudy Bruck of Riverside, RI, Gretchen Brunelli of Pawtucket, RI, and Natalie Pioggia of Westfield and four great-grandchildren; Warren Bruck, Maxwell Brunelli, Lilliana Brunelli, and Hayley Pioggia.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee.
