WESTFIELD – Elaine R. (Carrington) LaPointe, 79, of Westfield, formerly of Huntington passed away peacefully on Aug. 5. 2016 at Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield. She was born in Westfield Jan. 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Harvie B. and Ruth (Kelso) Carrington. She was educated in Huntington Schools and a graduate of the former Huntington High School. She later earned a degree in nursing from the former Noble Hospital Nurse School in Westfield. Elaine was employed as a nurse working at Noble Hospital, the Western Mass Hospital and later mostly as a private duty nurse for families throughout the area. Elaine had been a member of the former Huntington Federated Church in Huntington where she was a member of the women’s Guild, and she recently had been a member of the Advent Christian Church in Westfield, where she helped run the Sunday school program, vacation bible study program and was a member Choir. She was very active for many years with the Cub and Boy Scouts Troop 115 in Huntington. Her beloved husband David L. LaPointe passed away in 1978. She leave her loving family Ted M LaPointe and his wife Betsy, Deborah E. Hoppe, Paul W. Lapointe and his wife Janine, Randy J. LaPointe his companion Sherri, Rebekah A. Brunelle her husband Michael, her 12 cherished Grandchildren, her 8 adored Great Grandchildren, her brother Kennith Carrington, her longtime companion Donald Marsan and her many nieces and nephews. Elaine was predeceased by her beloved son David H. LaPointe in 1989 and her brother Elton Carrington. Calling hours will be held Friday Aug. 12, 2016, 10AM to Noon at the Huntington Evangelical Church 17 Russell Rd. (RT20) in Huntington followed by a service in that church at 12 noon. Burial will be in the Norwich Bridge Cemetery in Huntington. The O’Brien Funeral Home 17 Clark St. Easthampton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
