Eleanor Fanning

Westfield – Eleanor Fanning, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21 at Baystate Noble Hospital.  She was born June 5, 1934, in Westfield to Edward and Regina (Bolio) Jacobs.  She lived in Westfield most of her life and graduated from Westfield High School in 1952.  Eleanor was an office worker for Indian Motorcycle Co., Springfield.  She met and married William Fanning, of Chicopee, before returning to Westfield where she lived for the rest of her life.  She was employed for many years by the Westfield Police Department as a Crossing Guard for Moseley School. In her earlier years she loved knitting, walking her dog Tammy and vacationing in Cape Cod and Maine.  She was an avid reader and also liked to watch old movies.  She enjoyed the company of her lifelong friends as well as her newer friends at Hampden Village. Eleanor will be lovingly remembered by her family as a warm and caring woman.  She was predeceased by her parents as well as her husband, William T. Fanning in 2003, and her sister Jeanette Kozmiuk.  She is survived by daughters Ann Marie Buell and her husband Michael, of Westfield; Pam Baran and her husband Mark, of Chicopee; five grandsons – Christopher Buell (Karen), Jonathan Buell (Marie), Nathaniel Buell (Laura), Matthew Baran and Michael Baran.  She also leaves four great grand-children.  Eleanor is also survived by her half-brother Stanley Wilson, several nieces and nephews, especially her nephew Donald Kozmiuk and her cousin Jeffrey DeLance.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, March 26from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield.  A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 27 at St. Stanislaus Basilica, 566 Front Street, Chicopee at 10:00am.  As Eleanor was a three-time cancer survivor, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 59 Bobala Road, Holyoke, MA  01040.    Firtionadams.com
