Children’s Events at the Southwick Public Library
Story Yoga for Kids Ages 2-5: Join us at Southwick Public Library for a special time on Tuesday, February 5 at 10:30-11:30 a.m. for Story Yoga. Listen to a story. Learn some yoga poses. Do a special yoga-related activity and make a craft. This hour-long program for 2-5 year olds helps children to manage their bodies, focus, relax and have fun. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Please pre-register for this program. This program is presented by Southwick Public Library and “Pathways for Parents.”
Saturday Storytime: Children and their parents/caregivers are invited to come to the Children’s Room on Saturday, February 9th at 11 o’clock to listen to stories about penguins as we celebrate the winter season together. We’ll have an easy craft that you can make and take home. There is no registration for this program.
Kids Valentine’s Day Craft: Children of all ages are invited to come to the Children’s Room to make something special for their Valentine. Materials for this craft will be available during the library’s regular hours from February 11th through February 14th. Makerspace Monday—Make Some Slime!: Kids in grades 3-6, learn how to make slime! On February 11 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Makerspace Monday we will explore the principles of SLIME. Is it a solid or a liquid? Find out at this program Please register in the Children’s Room for this special event.
2-5 year olds Have Fun at Tuesday Storytime: Southwick Public Library Storytime for 2-5 year olds is on February 12, 19, and 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Room. Hear new stories, old stories and favorite ones. Make a simple craft and sing a song. Visit or call the library at 413-569-1221 ext. 4 to join in the fun, or just stop in the day of the event.
LEGO Clubs Meet in February: Southwick Public Library has two LEGO Clubs. Kids in kindergarten through grade K-2 will meet on Wednesday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m. Kids in grades 3-6 will meet on Thursday, February 14 at 3 p.m. Have fun building what you want using our LEGOs or work on a special challenge each monthly session. Pre-register by visiting the library or calling the Children’s Room at 413-569-1221 ext. 4. We are looking forward to seeing your LEGO creations.
Kids’ Vacation Dance Party with Jon O’Neill: Southwick Public Library will present a Kids’ Vacation Dance Party on Wednesday, February 20 from 3-4 p.m. with Musician Extraordinaire Jon O’Neill. Do the chicken dance! Master the Limbo! Kids ages 3 & up are invited to come and join the fun for this raucous vacation event. This special program is funded by a grant from Shurtleff Children’s Services, Inc.
Kids in Grades 3-6, Learn Watercolor Painting: Southwick Public Library will present a Watercolor Painting Workshop on Thursday, February 21 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for kids in grades 3-6. Learn about the different choices of watercolor papers, paints and other materials as well as techniques to make a watercolor painting which you will take home. Local artist Denise Griffin will provide all materials and instruction. Pre-register for this program due to limited space. This special event is funded by a grant from Shurtleff Children’s Services, Inc.
Celebrate Dr. Seuss in March: Come and celebrate the most famous Springfield picture book author at Dr. Seuss Storytime on Wednesday evening, March 6th at 6:30 p.m. Listen to Dr. Seuss stories and make a fun craft, too. Wear your favorite pajamas. There is no registration for this program.
