The Agawam United Methodist Church at 459 Mill Street in Feeding Hills and Christ Church United Methodist at 222 College Highway in Southwick are offering a drive-thru Ash Wednesday blessing for all those who are either too busy to attend a full worship service somewhere or who have limited mobility or health issues. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent, which concludes after 40 days with the celebration of Easter Sunday.

Pastor Ken Blanchard will offer ashes for people of any and all Christian denominations on Wednesday March 6 at two times and locations: Agawam UMC (Feeding Hills) 7:00am-9:00am at the circular driveway in front of the church; and Christ Church United Methodist (Southwick) 11:30am-1:30pm at the driveway between the church and the Food Pantry.

In addition to anointing foreheads with ashes, the blessing will include a scripture reading and a brief prayer. This is the first time such an approach is being offered in Southwick, and it will be offered instead of a traditional Ash Wednesday worship service inside the building.
