The Huntington Council on Aging is sponsoring a Go4Life Family Fun Walk on Saturday, October 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Stanton Hall located at 26 Russell Road in Huntington. All ages are encouraged to participate as they celebrate and encourage each other to live an active, healthy, independent lifestyle. Walking is directly linked with good health and sustained independence. The Huntington COA has been working with Healthy Hampshire on a Town Walking Map. There will be several routes of various difficulties. Participants will collect raffle tickets for each route or each time a route is completed. The drawing for raffle prizes will be held at the end of the walk. Prizes include 2 Fitbits, windchimes, and Pyrex storage containers donated by Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association. There are designated 1-mile loops on several locations on the map. Some loops are easier than others and to achieve the 1-mile goal, the number of repeated circuits will be indicated. Participants are encouraged to take as long as they need to finish walking 1 mile. Those who complete a 1 mile walk will have their name submitted to MCOA for a statewide raffle. All walkers with varying speeds and abilities are welcome to participate in the walk. Check in and pick up of walking maps and bottled water will be at 10:30 a.m. Entertainment will be at 11:00 a.m. featuring Country, Crossover, & Originals by David Housman & Ed Bentley. Free food (Chicken and Salad with Pita Bread or Hot Chili if a cold day) will be served at 12:30 p.m. The raffle prize drawing will be held at 1:00 p.m. and participants must be present to win. Please register in advance by calling the Huntington COA office at 413-512-5205. The deadline to sign up is Saturday, October 12.
