Montgomery Historical Society’s Annual Chicken Pie Supper
Westfield and Hilltown neighbors and friends are invited to attend the Montgomery Historical Society’s annual Chicken Pie Supper on Saturday, October 20 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Montgomery Town Hall. It’s a bargain: only $10.00 for a delicious home-style meal ($5.00 for youngsters aged 10 and under)! The menu also includes mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, cranberry sauce, beverages, and homemade apple crisp. Reservations should be made a.s.a.p. by calling Laurie at 862-8095 or Julie at 862-4539.
Noted local historian Dr. Robert Brown, Emeritus Professor of History at Westfield State University, is assisting with preparations for Westfield’s upcoming 350th anniversary celebration in 2019. He will share his research through his talk, “Westfield Looks at its Past.” A major archive on Westfield’s history is housed at the Westfield Athenaeum, where he is a dedicated volunteer. Dr. Brown has discovered that, because Montgomery land belonged to Westfield prior to the town being founded in 1780, the 200th anniversary celebrated in 1869 included participants representing Montgomery! Plans for the 2019 anniversary are already generating excitement among residents throughout this area. Come enjoy the supper and the guest speaker!
