Mike Parent, President, announced the recipients of the 2019 Outstanding Vocational and Community Service Awards as follows: Chief Russ Anderson, Southwick Fire Department; Susan Kochanski, Treasurer, Rotary Club of Southwick; and Chair, Southwick Cultural Council; Alan Slessler, Southwick Town Planner and Athletic Coach; and Resource Officer Michael Taggart, Southwick Police Department.

The objective of the award is to recognize individuals or groups who have embodied the characteristics of Rotary’s motto of “Service above Self”. The program was introduced in 1996 and to date the club has recognized 69 individuals and five nonprofit organizations from Southwick and the surrounding community.

The event takes place October 23 at Tucker’s Restaurant, 625 College Highway, Southwick, starting with a social hour at 6:00 pm followed by dinner at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25.00 and must be purchased in advance by contacting any Rotarian or Bob Fox at 413 579 4585. Deadline for tickets is October 21.
