Southwick Public Library Children’s Room April Activities

Makerspace Monday: What is Makerspace Monday? It is a time for kids in grades 3-6 to make something fun. In past weeks we have made bath fizzies, tie-dye shirts and crystals. On Monday, April 8 from 3-4 p.m., we will make after school snacks! You can also try our 3D pen and littleBits connectors. Please register in the Children’s Room for this special event.

 

Southwick Public Library Storytime for 2-5 year olds is on April 9, 16 & 23 at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Room. Hear stories about weather, stories about friends and favorite stories. Make a simple craft and sing a new song. Visit or call the library at 413-569-1221 ext. 4 to join in the fun, or just stop in the day of the event.

 

Southwick Public Library’s LEGO Club for grades 3-6 will meet on Thursday, April 11 from 3-4: p.m. Kids in kindergarten through grade 2 will have fun building their LEGO creations on Wednesday, April 17 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. using our LEGOs. You may choose to work alone or with a friend. We are looking forward to seeing your LEGO creations. Saturday Storytime: Children, accompanied by their parents/caregivers, are invited to come to the Children’s Room on Sat., April 13th at 11 a.m. for a Bunny Storytime, Our own Lori Gagnon will bring in her family rabbit, Raven, for all to enjoy. We will listen to stories about rabbits and do a bunny craft. There is no registration for this program.

 

Easter Craft: Children of all ages are invited to come to the Children’s Room on Thursday, April 18 through Saturday, April 20th to make an Easter wreath. Materials for this craft will be available during regular library hours.

 

Rainforest Reptile Shows will be at Southwick Public Library on Thursday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m. (school vacation week). Meet a variety of reptiles and amphibians at this interactive family program. This one-hour program will introduce you to the wonderful world of these amazing creatures including snakes, a frog and even an alligator! Learn how many of these fascinating animals have adapted to live in their environment. You will have the opportunity to have a hands-on encounter with at least one of the animals. Ransom Poetry Creation Station: In honor of National Poetry Month, we will set up a “Ransom Poetry Station” in the Children’s Room Kids can make up poems by using cut-out words and sticking them onto a page to make their own original poem. You can leave your poem on display at the library or take it home. Materials will be available the week of April 22-27.

 

Bedtime Storytime on Children’s Book Week: Children, accompanied by their parents/caregivers, are invited to come to the Children’s Room on Wednesday evening, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. for Bedtime Storytime to celebrate Children’s Book Week. We will read about animals on the move and do an easy craft. There is no registration for this program.
