Adult Book Discussion, October 2 at 1:30pm. October’s book is “The Bookshop on the Corner” by Jenny Colgan. You don’t need to purchase a copy to join, just ask us to request you a copy through the library! All are welcome to join.

 

Halloween Author Talk with Michael Aloisi, October 7, 6:30pm: Get in the mood for Halloween with a talk from local Horror Author, Michael Aloisi. Known as Author Mike to fans around the world, his works have appeared in hundreds of media outlets, been turned into movies and television shows and most of… scared thousands of readers! Join Mike as he talks about how his career in writing, tells stories about working with famous horror movie stars and how his dark mind works. Afterwards, Mike alongside his co-author Rebecca Rowland, will sign copies of their latest book, Pieces.

 

Massachusetts Serial Killers with Christopher Daley, October 9, 7pm: This program is funded by the Friends of the Southwick Public Library. Massachusetts Serial Killers is a two-part slideshow/lecture in which methods of criminal profiling are discussed along with three historical cases of serial murder in Massachusetts. Part one of the lecture examines the mind of a serial killer through the knowledge gained in the profiling field by such men as John Douglas and Robert Reisler of the FBI’s Behavior Analysis Unit. The talk will touch on the two different types of serial killers and also the four categories. There will also be a short discussion on crime scene examination and differentiate the M.O. of a killer from his or her signature. Part two of the will focus on three Massachusetts serial killers; Thomas Piper, the “Boston Belfry Murderer,” Albert DeSalvo, the so-called “Boston Strangler,” and Kenneth Hanson, known as the “Giggler.”

 

Socrates Café, October 15 at 6:30pm: The Socrates Cafe is an opportunity for ordinary people to wrestle with the big questions in a discussion. Alternative viewpoints are encouraged and explored. All discussion takes place in an atmosphere of respect and encouragement. People from all walks of life are encouraged to attend and contribute their unique views.

 

Color Chat & Cookies, October 21 at 6:30pm: Southwick Public Library’s Color, Chat and Cookies for Adults. The program is free and open to all. All materials are provided. Bring a friend!

 

Cookbook Club, October 22 at 6:30pm: Registration is required. Each participant is asked to pick a recipe from the selected book and make one regular sized recipe so everyone can taste. Copies of the book are available for check out at the library! If you’d like to attend, please contact the library at 413-569-1221 or [email protected]. Email the library your first and second choice recipes, prepare the recipe at home and join us at the meeting to discuss the recipe and try new ones! Please be advised: neither the food served at the cookbook club, and prepared in home kitchens, nor the facilities have been inspected by the state or local public health agency. October’s book is “Food Swings” by Jessica Seinfeld.

 

Sit ‘n’ Stitch, October 23 at 6pm: For knitters, crochet-ers, and embroiderers! Get help with a project or enjoy some quiet time to work.

 

Wreath-a-Palooza-Get crafty and make a festive wreath! October 29 at 6:30pm: Southwick Public Library’s Wreath-a-Palooza (for adults) – Registration required. We will have plenty of fun, festive materials so that every person can make a wreath to take home! One wreath per person.
